HisÌýonline promotional sound reel demonstrates a firm understanding of the uniquely important sensory experience of sound and the effect of its contribution to creative visual works. During his time studying at UNSW Art & Design, Turan mastered the process of creating sounds to compliment utterly different genres of film, video, and installation.
He’s done original soundtracks for: a carnivalesque animation visualizing a poem by Edgar Allan Poe,ÌýThe Haunted Palace;Ìýa quirky animation depicting the misadventures of Spiney the Porcupine; the whimsical short film,Ìý¶Ù´Ç³Ù, about the potential magic of waiting on hold; a cinematic and primarily monochromatic advertisement for the dishwashing liquid, Sabena Citrus Plus; and the documentary-style film,ÌýFukushima Halflife, about the fallout of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
Recently, Tarun created an immersive environment wherein his sound and visuals could be most fully experienced.ÌýThe Churning of the Ocean of MilkÌýis a study of experience, knowledge, and consciousness. Using archival footage and first-person interactivity, Tarun says the work “seeks to unveil new narratives within the continually evolving new image - an image in which time and the progression of human nature has changed its meaning from its initial inception.â€
