STUDENT'S ARTWORK

ARTIST STATEMENT

This work explores alternative ways of expression, aiming to transcend the boundaries of traditional language. Starting from a desire for further expression, I examined the limitations of traditional language as a social construct. Therefore, by returning to nature, I merged my movements with nature itself to create a new "language" that speaks differently, they may be calm, rapid, or more complex. The project utilizes two screens playing simultaneously: the left screen displays me dancing in various natural environments (as if my body and nature are co-writing), while the right screen features dynamic graphics generated from the movements of the figure and nature on the left screen (symbolising this new language). The sound component is in stereo, using a blend of natural and processed sounds, with the contrast between harmony and dissonance emphasising the concept explored in the work and the experience it wants to create.

ARTIST INTRODUCTION

Hi, I am a media arts student at UNSW specializing in moving image and sound. My work primarily explores experimental films, where I also integrate other art mediums such as sculpture, dance, interactive elements, or installations. I also have a keen interest in photography and design, which I incorporate to enhance the multidimensional aspects of my projects.
