STUDENT'S ARTWORK

ARTIST STATEMENT

No Help Thanks is a short film about overcoming one's trauma. Traumas weigh heavily, not allowing us to further ourselves and continuously holding us back. We follow Dale, our main character, as he overcomes his trauma through this experience to allow himself to improve as a person and move forward. The concept came from watching a film called American Psycho, starring Christian Bale. The story follows a man struggling with his addiction upon conducting murders. But, we always thought, what if he was able to receive help to overcome his addiction and allow himself to be saved from his addiction to murder? That made us come up with the idea and story to overcome that obstacle, where we focused on overcoming trauma as it's a relatable topic. Once again, many have their set version of trauma, and they should overcome it to move forward in their life. The process comes from taking what we learned throughout our years studying in the course and our love for animation using 3d as a good base and early production. Then, we rotoscoped over with 2d animation to create 2d backgrounds and animated the characters frame by frame to create movement.

ARTIST INTRODUCTION

We are animators who simply enjoy animating our stories to show our vision and the capabilities of our skills. We grew up watching so many cartoons, and each one inspired us so much, from the many art styles to how each medium can transform a story, giving life to characters through movement, that we wish to learn more to further our skills in animation so that we can create more of our own stories and bring them to life through the art of animation.
