Big data has become mainstream; however, the nature of the signals being collected is evolving.
If your data comprises of signal streams such as such as video, audio, accelerometric data, positioning data, real-time WiFi access information,听instead of discrete data points that fit in a spreadsheet, then we are interested in working with you.听By combining your domain expertise with our expertise in听signal processing, machine learning, modelling, mathematics and computing, we can work together to develop the next generation of inference methods.
We are looking for undergraduate student researchers who are interested in getting hands-on experience in Signal Processing and Machine learning.
Requirements:
- Strong programming skills
- 2nd year Mathematics and Statistics for Engineering

About us
SIMI lab brings together the expertise of a number of academics from the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at UNSW who specialise in speech,听image and signal processing, machine learning, system identification and modelling, telecommunications, networking, control theory and high-performance computing.听
It aims to work collaboratively with researchers and research teams to collaboratively develop methods for predictive data and signal analytics and machine learning systems.听
In order to develop and validate these systems, we have access to and experience with a number of computing platforms ranging from GPU compute capable workstations to听UNSW鈥檚 Katana computing cluster听and the Gadi research supercomputer at听.
