Research Abstract: Dry Eye Disease (DED) is a prevalent condition that significantly affects quality of life, yet its genetic underpinnings remain largely unknown. In this study, we conduct a Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) to identify genetic variants linked to DED. Utilizing data from the Baby Boomer Study (BBS), we analyze millions of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in a large cohort of individuals with DED, alongside matched controls. We aim for our findings to uncover potential targets for personalized treatments and emphasize the need for further research to validate these new variants as biomarkers for the early detection and prognosis of DED.
