Rita completed her Bachelor of Commerce with double majors in Finance and Accounting from the University of Sydney (USYD), followed by her Master of International Management (CEMS), a joint program between USYD and Vienna University of Economics and Business. Prior to embarking on her PhD journey, Rita gained diverse experience across several industries, including investment banking, auditing, assurance, management consulting, and startup incubation. During her time in industry, she discovered her passion for marketing, recognizing its potential to drive meaningful impact in both academia and the business realm.

In her pursuit of PhD, Rita is driven by her passion for tackling sustainability issues through strategic marketing approaches. Her research endeavours focus on the intersection of marketing and sustainability, with a particular emphasis on mitigating consumer-related food waste and promoting circular fashion. Specifically, Rita鈥檚 thesis explores the effective marketing appeal in promoting aesthetically unattractive fresh produce, with the purpose of mitigating consumer-related food waste. Additionally, Rita鈥檚 research aims to identify efficacious marketing strategy to increase consumers鈥 acceptance of repurposed fashion products.

Rita presented her working paper 鈥淭he Battle against Food Waste- The Effectiveness of Self-Benefit versus Other-Benefit Appeals in the Context of Aesthetically Unattractive Food鈥 in 2023 ACR conference in Seattle.
