PhD student Michael Denes has won the 2022 TM Cherry Prize.

Michael was awarded for best student聽presentation聽last Friday at the 58th Australia and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ANZIAM) Conference. He聽was a co-winner of the prize with Adriana Zanca (UMelb).

Michael's talk, "Persistence and material coherence of an Agulhas ring", was based on聽聽co-authored with supervisors Dr Shane Keating and Professor Gary Froyland.聽

During his PhD, Michael has been recognised several times for outstanding presentations, including an聽Honourable Mention for last year's TM Cherry Prize, and winning Best Student Talk for Applied Mathematics three years in a row at our School's annual Postgraduate Conference.聽
