Each year GradConnections in partnership with the Australian Financial Review releases a list of the Top 100 Future Leaders in categories spanning sustainability, social impact, big data, innovation, marketing and more.聽 The awards recognise the contributions and achievements of well-rounded University students and their commitment to their sector and purpose. This important characteristic or desire to work in an area that aligns with their personal interests and values has long been a quality Co-op has recognised in the selection process, and is also one that drives leaders to excel. The UNSW Co-op Office is delighted to share that four 2024 graduating Co-op scholars were nominated for the AFR Top 100 Future Leaders Awards, with two of them winning the awards in their category.

This cohort, who persevered through the impact of COVID-19 on both their studies and industry placement experiences, were challenged to develop their skills, passions and hobbies in new and different ways, has perhaps become more agile, and competitive than ever.聽
Being recognised as a leader feels like the culmination of all my hard work during my Co-op placements. The journey has been incredibly fulfilling and reinforcing of my commitment to the field.
Similarly, BIS scholar Himanshu confirmed that the award 鈥渙pens up many doors for [award winners/finalists] and expands the opportunity and impact they can make after graduation. [It] is also another way to stand out in the highly competitive job market and I鈥檇 highly recommend anyone considering the award to apply鈥.聽
