Brock Sherlock wins Best Student Paper Prize
The mathematics PhD candidate was honoured with the award during a recent conference.

Mathematics PhD candidate Brock Sherlock has received a Best Student Paper Prize for his 2024 publication, The Distance Between: An Algorithmic Approach to Comparing Stochastic Models to Time-Series Data.听
He received the award during the Mathematical Biology Special Interest Group Workshop at the ANZIAM (Australia and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics) 2025 Conference, held from 2-6 February in Coffs Harbour.听ANZIAM is聽a division of the Australian Mathematical Society, and focuses on applied mathematical research, mathematical applications in industry and business, and tertiary-level mathematics education.
Brock鈥檚 paper was co-authored with three of his supervisors: Adelle Coster (UNSW), Maria Vlasiou (University of Twente), and Marko Boon (Eindhoven University of Technology).听At UNSW, Brock鈥檚 supervisory team includes Dr Michael Watson.
