Collaboration with Foreign Government Organisation

Our premier event聽was聽taking a delegation to Jakarta for a successful visit with the Indonesian Coast Guard (鈥淚CG鈥) at their Headquarters on 22nd聽July 2019.听 The delegation comprised of academics with expertise in Naval Architecture (David Lyons), Radar and Wireless Communication (Jinhong聽Yuan), Light Metals (Michael Ferry), Corrosion (Sammy Chan), Advanced Composite Materials (Mohammad Islam/Chun Wang) and Armor Technology (Sean Li).听聽 The delegation also presented a list of courses and training programs which will be available to the officers of ICG.听聽

Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Information and Control Center of ICG, and the Navy Base, to understand the strategy and operation of ICG.听 It is now evident that MMFI can make a unique contribution to strengthen border security.

Aiko Solar

After two months of discussion led by Professor聽CheeMun聽Chong, Aiko Solar signed a research collaboration agreement where new ways will be found to improve the efficiency of Aiko solar cells (this collaboration is not related to UNSW鈥檚 advanced hydrogenation technology and there is no licensing of hydrogenation IP involved).听 This collaboration consists of a cash contribution of AUD$1 million, including an up-front payment of AUD$500,000 upon signing.

Aiko Solar was established in聽2009 in Foshan in the Guangdong Province of China with a total investment in excess of 4 billion RMB.听 Aiko Solar is currently the largest PERC cell producer in the world and is also the largest bifacial PERC cell producer in the world.听 In Q2 of 2019, Aiko Solar achieved over 5GW of PERC cell shipment and expects to reach over 9GW capacity by the end of 2019.听 聽
