Additional Experience
Dr Gnanendran has expertise in both theoretical and experimental research in goetechnical and pavement engineering areas. His research is aimed at finding innovative solutions to soft soil engineering problems such as the prediction of long term performance of embankments constructed on soft soils using fully coupled visco-plastic finite element modeling. Characterisation of unbound and stbilized pavement materials including recycled aggregates from waste products for pavement construction using different types of cyclic loading tests is another area of his active research. Also, he has expertise in the use of geosynthetics for stabilizing soft soils and pavement materials.
Engineer then Senior Engineer with multinational consulting and construction companies for over 8 years gaining extensive industrial experience in the design and construction of both structural and geotechnical engineering projects.
Assistant Professor for 3 years with University of New Brunswick, Canada teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the supervision of B.Eng. and MEng. projects.
Lecturer for 3 years and currently as Senior Lecturer with UNSW since 2001 teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the supervision of ME and PhD projects.
