Dr Husna Razee
BSc (AUB),
MPH (UC Berkeley),
PhD (UNSW)
I am an academic with a teaching intensive focus with over 10 plus years of experience convening and teaching qualitative research for postgraduate coursework and research students at UNSW.
My expertise in qualitative research lies in ethnography and in using creative data collection methods such as vignettes, most significant stories and story boarding for exploring sensitive topics such as mental health, sexual and reproductive health and gender based violence. These skills have been honed through research undertaken in Australia, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Maldives.听
My area of research covers social and cultural determinants of health, sexual and reproductive health promotion, adolescent sexual and reproductive health education, gender-based violence, social and cultural conceptualization of mental health and health professional education.听
I have lead/co-lead more than 15 post graduate research projects and contributed to three competitive research grants that involve qualitative research methods. I have co-authored over 30 peer reviewed publications in which I played a key role in conceptualizing and anlayzing qualitative research components and writing the manuscripts.听
I have successfully trained academics and higher degree research students in Maldives, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea in qualitative research methods and use of NVIVO software to manage qualitative data.听
