From 23 March 2024,ÌýtheÌýGenuine Student (GS) requirementÌýreplaces the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement for Student visas.Ìý

Processing times for visas can vary anywhere from 3 days to 9 months or more. Make sure you allow enough time in case of any delays and provide all required documentation for your best chance of being processed quickly.
Effective from 19 December 2024, the Australian Government has changed its approach to processing student visas (Subclass 500). As a result, we expect that there may be longer visa processing time for students submitting visa applications to study at UNSW Sydney. Ìý
To avoid delays on your study plan, we encourage you toÌýsubmit your visa application to the Australian Government as soon as you receive a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) from us.
Yes, student visas allow you to work, however there areÌýparticular restrictions. You can’t work until you have commenced your course at UNSW.Ìý
From 1 July 2023, student visa holders can work for up to 48 hours per fortnight during terms, and unlimited hours during term breaks. Work beyond the capped hours may cause your visa to be cancelled.Ìý
