From Bangalore to UNSW Sydney, Shreya did big things with her Master of Commerce
Here's how Shreya Gramle's passion for business took her on a journey from听Bangalore, India, to UNSW鈥檚 Business School, all the way into a Commonwealth Government placement in Australia鈥檚 Capital Territory.
鈥淯NSW鈥檚 Master of Commerce program has been an excellent fit, allowing me to explore my passions and broadening my understanding of the business world as a whole.鈥
UNSW鈥檚 Master of Commerce is designed in consultation with industry professionals to prepare students with career focused experience. The degree is delivered by the UNSW Business School (ranked number 1 out of 40 business schools in Australia). Graduates of the UNSW Business School have been voted amongst the 2020-2023 by the AFR Top100 Future Leader Awards.听
Designed with flexibility in mind, Master of Commerce students can choose from 14 specialisations including FinTech, cyber security and global sustainability and social impact. For Shreya it was this flexibility, coupled with the university鈥檚 strong reputation, that led her to study at UNSW.听
鈥淯NSW has a strong focus on innovation and research. The university鈥檚 commitment to providing a well-rounded education, and its diverse, multicultural student community also appealed to me.鈥
What began with online studies due to the global pandemic, transitioned to听on-campus learning in Shreya鈥檚 second year. While studying away from her home country of India had its challenges, Shreya built a network and circle of friends to support her in Australia.听
鈥淭he university campus was always bustling with activity, from social gatherings to professional events. Opportunities to connect with peers and faculty helped me develop a strong sense of belonging within the university community.鈥
Shreya took up other activities beyond the commerce classroom, such as听attending guest lectures, playing sport, and representing students on panel discussions during the Business School鈥檚 O-Week.
听
Shreya also became an active member of one of UNSW鈥檚 300 clubs and groups. There, Shreya took opportunities to connect and grow, engaging with a wide range of people, planning and hosting events, and developing leadership skills.
鈥淏eing a part of a student society was instrumental in shaping my personal and professional development."听
"Starting as a subcommittee member, I was later elected as the Vice President of the Professional Development team. This allowed me to engage with the wider business school student community, as well as academic coordinators, professors, and the Career Accelerator team.鈥
Students at UNSW Business School have access to Career Accelerator, a unique work experience, professional development and global business project program.
听
Now that she鈥檚 graduated, Shreya values the critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and future-ready business practices she learnt during her UNSW Masters Degree.
鈥淢y biggest takeaway from the program has been the ability to think strategically and adapt to the ever-changing business landscape, which has been invaluable in my professional life.鈥
In fact, as a result of her dedication and the valuable skills gained studying Commerce at UNSW鈥檚 Business School, Shreya has secured a place in the听听Graduate Program. She has now relocated to Canberra, Australia鈥檚 Capital Territory, to take on this exciting new opportunity.
Shreya believes other international students have a lot to gain from choosing to study at UNSW.听
鈥淚f there's a UNSW course that aligns with your interests and background, I highly recommend taking the leap of faith and enrolling. The university has a world-class reputation, a diverse student community, and a range of extracurricular activities to enhance your experience. Go for it, and take advantage of all that UNSW has to offer!鈥
