We have a range of resources for anyone new to UNSW Paddington, or requiring some additional support to join us on campus.

These include a visual story (an image-based, easy read document introducing you to key locations and activities); a sensory map (identifying where you may encounter intense sound, light and smell); an accessibility map (locating key access points across campus); and information on the Hidden Disability Sunflower scheme, which UNSW Paddington was the first university campus in Australia to become a member. These documents are designed to support you to engage fully with the UNSW Paddington campus in a way that makes the most sense for you. If you find any errors, have suggestions or feedback, please .

Sensory maps

Certain areas on campus can be noisy or have very strong smells at specific times. These mostly relate to workshops or other spaces where making activities take place. If you prefer to avoid such areas, these sensory maps can guide you to pathways around campus where you're less likely to encounter intense sensory experiences. The maps also highlight areas where you're more likely to find quiet spaces for sensory relief.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme was established in the UK in 2016. Since then, it has been adopted around the world. UNSW Paddington is the first university campus in Australia to become a member of the scheme and many of our staff have been trained to offer additional support for anyone displaying the Sunflower. If you would like to adopt the Sunflower, you can pick up a free Sunflower lanyard from the Arc student union office.

Acknowledgement of Country
