ARTIST STATEMENT

This film documents my project called Landscape Eulogy which is a reflection on photographic temporality in representations of nature. The film’s first half gives the backstory of how this photo series came about as two friends and I travel on the road. After many trips of aimlessly wandering, we start to return to a deforested lot in Belanglo National Park. The film changes from a narrated diaristic style to a performance as this is where my photo project takes place. The site is a symbol of the cycle of death and re-birth in nature. In this forest I had previously buried photographs of that exact landscape and am now returning to uncover them. I dig through the mud to uncover these unreadable photographs that have had the earth printed upon them.

Artwork medium: single channel video, stereo
