STUDENT'S ARTWORK

ARTIST STATEMENT

Re-Animation (BAD ENDING) is a short about animation, labor, and disability. It takes the common idea of animation "bringing pictures to life" and re-frames it with the use of necromancy. The degradation of the finish of the work as time goes on reflects the real degradation of physical health of both the main character and the real life animator, before reaching the titular bad ending.Ìý Traditional 2D animation is used to create methodical, evocative movements that show the depth of the labor of the main character, giving weight and effort to the whole sequence.

Artwork medium: 2D frame-by-frame animation in Clip Studio Paint

ARTIST INTRODUCTION

Lucky Smith is a media arts student with a special passion for 2D animation. They've been fascinated with the medium of animation for over a decade now, especially interested in the technique required and the mechanics of movement. They can often be found reading Wikipedia for fun and agonizing over strategy in games that are supposed to be relaxing.
