Artwork title: OBSIDION

OBSIDION departs from a narrative about travel and looks more closely at the way trauma pulsates through us. The amplification and demise of sorrow. PATIENCE appears to remind you to slow down and breathe. Is it delivered by an alter ego, KYRO, who tells a narrative in the abstract, often resorting to psychedelics to see the truth and to heal.

The creative process doesn’t need to be an extraction. There is immense value in looking at art as a way to communicate our multi-disciplined artist exploring print making, textiles and the digital realm, my work aims to rework imaginings and tell a story through alter ego KYRO. The works explore travel, connection, purpose and environment, as they are intrinsically linked by culture, stories and understanding. It is a memoir from distant memories, more recent explorations of place and self, and current time. The work is part of an ongoing body of work that isn’t linear but forever renewed by its context. This allows for ideas to flow on from created works and continues to fuel creativity. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts at USNW. My current investigations are in rejuvenating textiles and projecting moving image onto created surfaces. My previous studies include design, interior design and sound design/production.
