Artist statement
Cephalalgia is a drawing project that explores forms of light and their effects when suffering from a headache. This work depicts my experiences with headaches and how mundane moments can become painful. This work uses bleach on ink-prepared paper and soft pastel with image transfers to examine the dichotomy between the beauty of light and the pain it can inflict. These drawings explore various types of light, specifically traffic lights at night, sunlight and bright indoor lights.
