UNSW HSK Centre runs Full Courses designed for learners with a variety of objectives and needs, including academic study, professional development, personal interests, travel preparation, or readiness for the HSK test. By taking the Full Courses, you will not only improve language skills but also develop a richer understanding of Chinese culture and society. With a team of highly experienced and dedicated teaching staff and exceptional resources UNSW has to offer, UNSW HSK Centre ensures high-quality teaching and optimal learning environment.

FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE FULL COURSES

Full Course 1A

This is the first half of Level 1 full courses. It is for complete beginners. By completing this course, you will master the Pinyin system, some basic vocabulary and grammatical structures, and gain some simple conversation skills. We hope this first course will establish a robust foundation for sustained Chinese language learning.

Full Course 1B

1B is the second half of Level 1 full courses. It is designed for students who have completed 1A, approximately 20 hours of prior Chinese learning or the equivalent. By the end of 1A and 1B Full Courses, you will be able to comprehend and utilize 150 fundamental Chinese words, understand basic structures of Chinese characters and rudimentary grammar, as well as simple everyday expressions.

For those who are interested in taking HSK test, you will be able to take HSK Level 1 Test after completing both 1A & 1B Full Courses.Ìý

Full Course 2A

2A is the first of Level 2 full courses. This course is designed for students who have already completed Level 1 Full Courses or passed HSK Level 1 test, or the equivalent (such as ARTS1450 or ARTS1452 offered by UNSW). By completing this course, you will have learned more commonly used words and more grammar expressions. Students are expected to understand and use words and sentences to communicate on common topics in everyday life.

Full Course 2B

2B is the second half of Level 2 full courses. Upon completing 2A & 2B, you will expand your vocabulary to encompass 300 commonly used words, and more grammatical structures and sentence patterns. These linguistic skills will enable you to comprehend and articulate words and sentences in basic daily communication.

For those who are interested in taking HSK test, you will be able to take HSK Level 2 Test after completing both 2A & 2B Full Courses.Ìý

Full Course 3A

3A is the first half of Level 3 full courses. This course is designed for students who have completed Full Course Level 2B or passed HSK Level 2 test, or the equivalent (such as ARTS1451 or ARTS1453 offered by UNSW). By taking this course, you will expand vocabulary and grammatical structures, and you will further develop writing skills.

Full Course 3B

3B is the second half of Level 3 full courses. Upon completing 3A & 3B, you will increase your vocabulary to 600 words and will learn more grammatical structures, sentence patterns and idiomatic expressions. You will enhance your communicative skills using language appropriately in social and cultural contexts.

For those who are interested in taking HSK test, you will be able to take HSK Level 3 Test after completing both 3A & 3B Full Courses.ÌýÌý

Full Course 4A

4A is the first quarter of Level 4 full courses. This course is designed for students who have completed Full Course Level 3B or passed HSK Level 3 test, or the equivalent (such as ARTS2450 or ARTS2451 offered by UNSW). By taking this course, you will expand vocabulary and grammatical structures, and you will further develop reading and writing skills.

Full Course 4B

4B is the second quarter of Level 4 full courses. Upon completing 4A & 4B, you will increase your vocabulary to 900 words and will learn more grammatical structures, sentence patterns and idiomatic expressions. You will enhance your communicative skills using language appropriately in social and cultural contexts.
