Welcome from the Head of School

The global renewable energy transition is underway. Solar power and wind energy are now the lowest-cost technologies for generating electricity. Combined with enhanced energy efficiency, increased energy storage capacity and the electrification of the transport sector – this transition will become a revolution. All of which is the work that we do here at SPREE.

Our world-leading research and education programs are fundamental to this new energy paradigm. Our graduates at all program levels are now industry leaders at the forefront of this transition to a sustainable, renewable energy future. We offer our students a highly relevant, industry-focused teaching program and the chance to collaborate with world-leading researchers in our facilities.

Our vision and commitment for our school is to continue to carry out world-class, recording-breaking and award-winning research and teaching in renewable energy. We have been accelerating this transition at our labs for over 40 years and continue to seek the next generation of renewable energy pioneers in the field.

We are enormously proud of the impact that our alumni and research have had on the world, especially the dramatic growth of the global solar industry. Australia has vast solar and wind resources, with plenty of available land and rooftops. We lead the way in the adoption of distributed renewable resources, with more rooftop solar systems per household than anywhere else in the world.

There has never been a more dynamic or exciting time to pursue a career in renewable energy. If you are looking to join us and to learn about the many pathways we offer, we would be delighted to hear from you.
