NSW CANCER RESEARCH EDUCATION SEMINAR
Maridulu Budyari Gumal (SPHERE) Cancer CAG NSWÂ in collaboration with the Regional Cancer Research Network, and Sydney Cancer Partners is hosting the 2025 NSW Cancer Research Education Statewide Seminar Series. These online seminars are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
The next seminar will be held Tuesday, 15th of April 12.30pm - 1.30pm via Microsoft Teams.
Targeted therapies for high-risk cancer – a reason for hope?
Targeted therapies for high-risk cancers use drugs or substances to specifically attack cancer cells or environments based on their genetic mutations, minimising damage to healthy cells. These therapies may offer a more personalised and effective treatment approach.Â
The seminar will feature presentations from Prof Minoti Apte (UNSW Sydney and Ingham Institute), Prof David Ziegler (Children’s Cancer Institute), and A/Prof Tara Roberts (Western Sydney University and Ingham Institute) and will be chaired by Prof Hubert Hondermarck (University of Newcastle).
Join us for an insightful session where leading experts will discuss the latest advancements in targeting specific high-risk cancers. This seminar aims to enhance understanding and foster collaboration in the field of cancer research.
Cancer Symposium
The UNSW Cancer Symposium is an annual gathering of researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders dedicated to advancing cancer research and care. Each year, the symposium provides a platform for cutting-edge discussions on innovations in cancer treatment, survivorship, and translational research.
This year’s event will be held on Thursday 19 June 2025 at the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre and will feature a dynamic program of keynote talks, scientific sessions, and presentations showcasing the latest breakthroughs across cancer research.
This year, we are pleased to welcome esteemed keynote speakers Prof. Ian Street (Director of Therapeutic Innovation at Children's Cancer Institute) and Prof. Bogda Koczwara (Director of the Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship), alongside other distinguished experts, who will share insights into emerging trends and future directions in oncology. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with early- and mid-career researchers and connect with leaders shaping the future of cancer research at UNSW.
The symposium will conclude with a networking session over drinks and canapés.
Join us for a full day of knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and inspiration as we work towards improving outcomes for cancer patients.
