Equity, Diversity & Inclusion – Arts, Design & Architecture
Our committment to equity
UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture is committed to enabling an equitable learning experience for all. Learn about some of the support we offer to students and our broader contributions to equity below.
Gateway Students
Students who have entered UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture via the Gateway Admissions Pathway and/or are from a low socio-economic background have access to a range of support both within the Faculty and UNSW more broadly. ADA supports access to textbooks that are a mandatory requirement within ADA courses for all Gateway students. Additionally, students in select programs may receive support for costs associated with materials and Work Integrated Learning placements. Students receive communication via email about these schemes throughout the year.Â
Indigenous Students
UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture offers a range of support for Indigenous students in collaboration with Nura Gili. Students in ADA have access to a dedicated Indigenous Student Support Specialist who can assist with enrolment, applications for scholarship, and have a yarn with you about university life. Students in select programs also have access to financial support for materials funding and work integrated learning opportunities. Email ada.indigenous@unsw.edu.au to find out mroe.Â
Pasifika Students
Run out of the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture the Pasifika @ UNSW Network brings together individuals and groups twice a term through a series of engaging micro-events. These gatherings offer a unique opportunity to connect, share experiences, and celebrate Pasifika culture.
Join us to build lasting relationships, explore new ideas, and contribute to a vibrant Pasifika community at UNSW.
LGBTQIA+ Students
UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ students. Our staff and students play a leading role in advocacy both within and outside of the university for LGBTQIA+ rights. One example of ADA's committment to the LGBTQIA+ community is our Trans & Gender Diversity visibility campaign.Â
Students with Disability
UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture supports students with disability through a range of mechanisms ranging from grassroots action to policy. We're committed to working in partnership with UNSW Equitable Learning Services and have Academic Disability Advisors who help ensure students are supported throughout the reasonable adjustment process. We continually upskill our staff to best support students and have a variety of resources and groups which lead disability-focussed initiatives such as 'Diversified'. UNSW ADA is home to world-leading disability experts and advocates and we're proud to be contributing to a more equitable future.Â
