Welcome to Diversified
Diversified is a collective of neurodivergent students, staff, and educators at UNSW dedicated to improving the lives of neurodivergent individuals in our community and beyond. Our mission is to ensure that neurodivergent people are central to the conversation and decisions that impact them. Through research, community education, resource production and advocacy, we are working to embed neuro-inclusion into UNSW鈥檚 educational framework and policies, helping to create environments where neurodivergent individuals can thrive.

Our neurodiversity statement
What we mean when we say neurodivergent
At Diversified, we embrace the diversity of human minds. When we say 鈥渘eurodivergent,鈥 we鈥檙e acknowledging and celebrating the natural variations in the way people think, learn, and process information. This includes, but is not limited to, those who identify as autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic, live with Torettes, OCD or Epilepsy, those with learning differences, mental health conditions, or other cognitive variances.
Understanding barriers to diagnosis and support
We recognize that access to diagnosis and support is often shaped by economic, social, and systemic barriers. Factors such as gender, culture, language, visa status, and financial resources can all play a significant role in determining whether someone is able to seek and obtain a diagnosis, as well as the support they need. We are committed to advocating for equity in these areas, ensuring that all neurodivergent individuals have the opportunity to access the resources that empower them to thrive.
Respecting privacy and disclosure choices
While Diversified publicly celebrates neurodiversity, we understand that disclosure is a deeply personal decision. Not everyone has the privilege or safety to disclose their neurodivergent identity due to the ongoing stigma, discrimination, and barriers that still exist within our educational systems, workplaces, and broader communities. We respect and support the choices of neurodivergent individuals who may choose not to disclose in certain contexts, recognising that their lived experiences and contributions remain invaluable regardless of whether they are visible or known.
Our commitment
At Diversified, we are dedicated to creating a world where neurodivergent individuals are understood, respected, and valued. We believe in fostering environments where everyone, regardless of their neurotype, can access the opportunities, recognition, and support they need to lead fulfilling lives. Our work is driven by a commitment to equity, inclusion, and the celebration of neurodiversity in all its forms.
