To be eligible for graduation, you must fulfill the following requirements by the official date for your final academic period (i.e. Term, Semester, or Hexamester).

To check if you're eligible to graduate, we will confirm with your program authority that you've completed all of your program's requirements. You do not need to submit a Progression Check yourself.
We'll get in touch if you haven't met any of your program requirements.

From 1 January 2023, all higher education students, including international students studying in Australia, must have a to graduate and receive their award.
Exempted students
You won't need a USI only if you are an international student and:
- You complete all of your study outside of Australia
- You commenced your study before 1 January 2023 and are not in Australia to receive your award.

If you are a Research graduate, you must deposit two digital copies of the final, UNSW-approved version of your thesis to before your graduation documents can be released.
Please note: If you have not successfully deposited your thesis to UNSWorks at least 2 weeks prior to your graduation ceremony, you may be handed a blank folder when you cross the stage.

If you have outstanding debts on your record, you will not be allowed to graduate. Uncleared debts on your record past the completion date will prevent you from graduating.
To be added to the conferral list, you must pay off , such as:
- Tuition fees
- Loans
- Equipment costs
- Library fines.
View outstanding debts (excluding Library fines) and pay them off in myUNSW's '' tab.

Before you graduate, it’s important to check and update your personal details, including degree information, in myUNSW. This will allow us to contact you with information about your ceremony and ensure that the name printed on your graduation documents is correct.
Be sure to check the following:
- Personal details (including mailing address, phone number and personal email address)
- Degree status (listed as Potential, Awarded or Revoked)
- Specialisation (check that your majors and minors are correct, as well as your honours level)
- Date of completion (this will appear once your degree status is listed as Awarded)
- Conferral date
- Name on Testamur (ensure it is your full legal name or request a correction).
